Why Did the City of Golden Ban
Food Trucks?

In 2020 Golden City Council passed Ordinance 2145, banning food trucks, which affected GCB and other local businesses without warning.

"On July 12, 2022, Ordinance No. 2189 was passed by council, adopting the 2020 version of the Model Traffic Code (“MTC”), as established by the Colorado Department of Transportation, replacing the previous MTC version of 2010. In late 2023, it was discovered that through an unknown clerical error, Ordinance No. 2189 broadly repealed and replaced the entire locally adopted version of the MTC, without preserving the local amendments adopted in Ordinance No. 2145 in September 2020. As a result, the local amendments related to adventure vans and food trucks were erroneously removed and reverted to the state published version of the definitions."

Many of us depended upon food trucks as part of daily operations, and were left high and dry with the ban. It was abhorrent for council to pass this ban during Covid restrictions, as food trucks were some of the hardest hit small businesses. Please bear with us during our transition process- it has been heartbreaking to lose our beloved food trucks who've become family over the past decade.
